French match strikes, or pyrogèns, were commonly found sitting on bars and bistro tables throughout Europe in the 19th and early 20th centuries. Each striker has a rough, ribbed section where the tip of the match is quickly struck upon to light the match. The strikers can also be used to hold a variety of items, such as toothpicks, but we love these hand-painted reproductions as a colorful companion to our Lassi Cup Candles.
Strike Anywhere matches are required for use as regular household kitchen matches will not light.
