Traditionally made in India, a dohar is a three-layer blanket crafted from mulmul, an exceptionally soft, breathable cotton muslin once prized by Indian royalty. Lightweight yet cozy, it becomes even softer with every wash, making it a favorite from the newborn days well beyond.
Each dohar is printed entirely by hand using centuries-old block printing techniques. Artisans carve intricate patterns into wooden blocks, dip them into natural, azo-free dyes, and press them onto the fabric in a slow, rhythmic process that may be repeated hundreds—even thousands—of times for a single blanket. Made in small batches, no two are exactly alike. Subtle variations in color and pattern are a hallmark of the handmade process and part of what makes each dohar uniquely beautiful.
