Growing up, my uncle was an antiques dealer and I have fond memories of rifling through his extraordinary silver collection. Many years later as I scoured secondhand shops, I would call to ask if he thought this or that was worth the asking price. His response was always the same: “Do you love it? Do you find value in it?” I still abide by this code today, and it’s never led me astray.
