One year ago, The Wick List began as a monthly candle subscription and became something more: a way to share the people, places and discoveries behind the scents I love. From a tucked-away London townhouse to an old farmhouse outside Round Top—and a remarkable fragrance story found right here in Houston—I'm looking back at a few favorite moments from our first year.

Morgan Hood and Ally Holderness, longtime friends and co-founders of Elliston House, share the story behind their vibrant, easy-to-layer textiles and wallpapers. What began six years ago as a friendship rooted in a love of interiors—from hunting down the perfect antique chest to curating playful, timeless color palettes—has blossomed into a full-fledged design house. Their collections reflect family, travel, nature, and a fearless flair for mixing the unexpected.

This fall, their lively textiles come to life in a tabletop and home collection debuting at our shop during the Round Top Antiques Show, featuring tea towels, coasters, napkins, pillows, bolsters, and hand-sewn lampshades.

Austin-based designer Cat Alexander captivates with a modern take on historic techniques, transforming the ancient ink arts of Japanese Suminagashi and Turkish marbling into wallpapers and textiles that feel alive with movement. Each piece begins as hand-crafted art, with inks and pigments coaxed across water and submerged onto treated paper. The result is dynamic, intimate, and rooted in nature’s rhythm.

We are thrilled (and honored!) to translate Cat’s striking fabrics into our signature bolster and Euro pillows, forming a limited-edition collection that pairs beautifully with our heritage block prints and dohar blankets—a layered, timeless juxtaposition of old and new, made to endure.
