One of Britain’s most influential living artists, Sir Christopher Le Brun rose to prominence in the 1980s and continues to create works that celebrate light, depth, and the expressive possibilities of paint. This book offers an in-depth exploration of a compelling body of work produced over the past ten years.
Le Brun’s large-scale paintings are marked by lyrical abstraction, often drawing on myth, history, and literature. Using a rich palette and expressive brushwork, his canvases range from delicately light to densely layered with paint. Each page of this sumptuous volume reveals the artist’s dynamic approach to color, texture, and form, capturing the emotion and energy of his creative process.
Featuring an extensive full-color plates section—including five expanding foldouts—alongside a critical narrative by art historian Matthew Holman and illustrated footnotes detailing Le Brun’s inspirations, this book provides a comprehensive look at one of Britain’s most celebrated contemporary artists.
