Baby dohars are the ultimate multi-purpose essentials—perfect as a swaddle, nursing cover, stroller blanket, tummy time sheet, or a luxe accessory for your mini jet setter. Designed and made exclusively for Courtney Barton, each dohar is a blend of tradition and luxury.
The word "dohar" comes from the Hindi term doharana, meaning "to repeat," with dohar itself signifying "layered," and these blankets live up to their name. Made of three layers of mulmul, a light, airy cotton muslin once reserved for Indian royalty, dohars are traditional summer blankets that become softer with every wash.
Crafted using centuries-old block printing techniques, artisans carve intricate patterns into wooden blocks, which are then dipped in natural, azo-free dye and pressed into the fabric 500 to 3,000 times in a slow, rhythmic process. Produced in limited quantities, each dohar bears the mark of the artisan, making each blanket truly one-of-a-kind. Subtle variations even exist among those of the same design, adding to their unique charm.
